If your organization has a SmartDraw Site License, you can choose to share any custom library you create with your entire organization.
First, create a custom library. You can read more about how to create custom libraries here.
To create a custom library, click on More in the symbols section of the SmartPanel on the left hand side of your drawing area.
This will open a Symbol Libraries dialog. Click on Add New and select Add New Custom Library.
A new dialog window will appear. Type the name of your custom library and click OK to save your library.
Now, add custom symbols.
Once you finish creating your library, you'll see it to the left of your drawing area, docked to your SmartPanel.
To access the new custom library you just created, your team members can open a template and click on click on More in the symbols section of the SmartPanel.
They'll be able to see your new custom library, under the Shared Symbols folder.
To add it and dock it to their template, they'll have to select the library in this dialog and click Add Library. This will dock the custom library to their template.
Using the Search Symbols function will also return any relevant symbols from shared custom libraries.
FAQ About Custom Libraries
Can you turn off sharing on a custom library?
Not at this time. If you no longer want to share a custom library, you'll want to delete it.
Can other people add to my custom library?
Yes, anyone on your license can add symbols or remove symbols from the library. They can also rename or delete the library. Everyone has the same set of permissions.
Can I share older custom libraries that were created without checking the share option?
Right now, you can't go back and share previously created custom libraries. The sharing option has to be checked when the library is created. To share a library where that wasn't checked at the point of creation, you can export the library and have your team import it. See below.
Older Custom Libraries
For older custom libraries you may have created, you'll still have to export that library and have team members import it.
