You can use SmartDraw’s AI integration to generate a flowchart using natural language prompts.
You can do so from any diagram template in SmartDraw. You don't have to start in a Flowchart template. You can generate a flowchart from anywhere.
Step 1: Switch the SmartPanel to SmartDraw AI
Simply click on the star or sparkle icon in the left bar to switch the SmartPanel to the SmartDraw AI view.
Step 2: Enter a Prompt
Type in your prompt and hit the send icon in the lower right corner to send your prompt to the LLM.
For example, you can try the following prompt to get a simple flowchart:
Can you make me a flowchart that represents a SOC2 audit? Focus on the steps needed to be taken by IT staff to validate internal controls.
After the flowchart is generated, a chat message will notify you, and the flowchart will appear inside a frame in the drawing area on the right.
You can continue to modify the generated flowchart using AI. Ask to re-order steps, insert new steps, or add more detail.
Step 3: Edit Your Generated Flowchart in SmartDraw
You can also edit the generated flowchart with SmartDraw’s built-in flowchart tools. Change colors, add steps, and more.
If you want to see the chat history that generated the flowchart, just select the frame around the flowchart. It will automatically switch your view of the SmartPanel back to SmartDraw AI and your chat history.
