You can import data to generate a chart like a bar graph or pie chart.
To add a data chart to any document, first, click on the Plus icon to switch your SmartPanel to the Insert Content control. Choose Add Data Visualizer and then click on Data Chart.
First, choose the type of chart you want to generate.
Next, you'll be presented with a dialog that lets you upload a data file from your desktop or link to a URL data source.
In either case, depending on the type of chart you're making your data should be formatted a specific way.
If you're making a bar chart or line chart use this formatting:
If you're making a pie chart, use this:
Uploading a CSV to Generate a Chart
Format your data in a CSV, XLS, XLXS or tab delimited text file.

Linking to a Published Data File to Generate a Chart
You can also get data from an online source like Google Sheets, as long as the data is publicly available.
To import data from a URL, first you'll need to get a share URL from the data source. Open a document in Google Sheets and go to the File menu, select Share, then Publish to web.
Make sure you choose Comma-separated values (.csv) in the second drop-down and hit Publish.
Now you have a URL you can use to link to your data.
Copy the URL in the dialog.
In SmartDraw's Import Data dialog, choose URL and paste the URL into the appropriate field.
Click OK and SmartDraw will import the data from your source and automatically generate your selected chart type.
Update Data
You can re-import data from the Edit Chart dialog at any time. However, if you use a URL as your data source, you can also turn on auto-updating to automatically refresh your chart.
Switch to the Data control on the SmartPanel using the database icon.
Under Actions, choose Update Data Table.
Check the Auto-update box to have SmartDraw automatically update your data.
