There are three ways to connect to 3rd party storage services in SmartDraw:
- Under the Documents view from the Dashboard
- The Save As dialog
- Using the Storage options under Integrations on the Dashboard
Connect under Documents
On the Dashboard, click on Documents and then choose Microsoft SharePoint® from the Add Storage drop-down.
You will be prompted to login to your SharePoint® account.
Agree to let your SmartDraw connect to your SharePoint® by clicking Allow.
A quick overview of permissions used by SharePoint:
- Files.read - Allows reading of read-only files when the user has read-only access.
- Files.readwrite - Allows saving and retrieving files when user has read/write access to file.
- Offline_access - Allows us to use the Microsoft provided access token to update list of SDR files in the background. This allows the user to see updated content when they access folders from SmartDraw.
- Sites.Read.All - Core privilege that lets us check what sites a user has access to and display files from those sites. It is required for us to do anything with SharePoint via an API.
Connect from the Save As Dialog
Alternatively you can also add a new service like SharePoint® right from the Save As dialog. Just click on the logo under Add Service or choose Add New under Save To.
Connect from Integrations
One final place you can create a connection to Microsoft SharePoint is under the Integrations section of the Dashboard. Click on Integrations and then select Storage.
On the next screen, choose Microsoft SharePoint and follow the prompts to connect.
Save to Microsoft SharePoint
Once connected, you can save any document to SharePoint from the Save As dialog. Simply, select SharePoint from the Save To drop down.
Find Documents on Microsoft SharePoint
Once you have documents saved to SharePoint, you can easily find them again under the Documents view by clicking on the SharePoint tab.
