You can manage layers by clicking the Layer tab at the bottom of your drawing area and choosing Manage Layers.
You can also access the same dialog from the Page tab by clicking on Layers and then choosing Manage Layers.
The Manage Layers dialog lets you modify any layers you've created. You'll see a list of all the layers currently in your document, their visible and clickable settings, and the number of objects they contain.
To select a layer, click on its name. This will highlight the layer's properties and the number of objects it contains.
Change the Name of a Layer
To rename a layer, select its name in the dialog and click on Edit Layer.
In the Edit Layer dialog that pops up, you can change the name and click OK.
Making Your Layer Visible and Clickable
You can also edit the properties of a layer using the Edit Layer command.
Selecting Visible allows your layer to be seen even when viewing a different layer in your visual.
Selecting Clickable allows your layer to be edited even when the layer is not selected and you're on a different layer of your visual. For example, you can select objects in that layer and move them, and so on.
Reorganize the Order of Layers
You can move a selected layer up and down in the order of layers in the document.
By default, the first layer added to the document is at the bottom of the visible pile. The last layer added will be at the top. You can easily change this order by selecting the name of the layer in the Manage Layers dialog and then clicking either Move Layer Up or Move Layer Down to create the order you want.
Delete a Layer
Clicking on Remove Layer will delete the selected layer. When you delete a layer, objects from it won't be deleted, but they will be moved to the remaining top layer.
