If you need specific details from Jira inside a SmartDraw document, you can import individual Jira cards as needed. Connect to your Atlassian account and add any Jira card relevant to your Kanban, brainstorming, PI planning, or anything you want to visualize. You can also push ideas and tickets generated during your meetings and brainstorming sessions back into Jira.
Switch to Insert Content View
Click the Plus (+) icon to switch the SmartPanel into the Insert Content view.
Once on the Insert Content view, you can scroll to the Add Data Visualizer section and choose Jira Issues.
Connect to Your Atlassian Account
You'll be prompted to connect to your Atlassian Jira instance.
Create New Issues or Import Existing Issues
Once you authenticate, you will be able to choose between creating a new issue or search for an existing issue to import.
Search and Select Issues
To import an existing issue from your Jira instance, choose Search for Existing Issue. You can search for issue keys in your Jira instance using a standard text based search, an advanced JQL expression, or a custom filter from your instance.
SmartDraw will pull your Jira data in and let you see which issues to add to your visual.
Simply, check the boxes next to the issues you want to create shapes for and click OK.
In addition to the issue summary and key, SmartDraw will also pull in all the relevant icons, a link to Jira, the assignee, associated sprint, the issue priority, and so on.
Create New Jira Issues
To create a new Jira issue, choose Create New Issue from the Jira Issue data visualizer modal. You'll be able choose the Project you want to add an issue to and then specify the issue type, Epic, Sprint, assignee, fix version, priority along with a quick summary and description.
SmartDraw will create a shape for this new issue and add it to your diagram. The issue will also get added to your Jira instance.
Updating Jira Issues
The SmartPanel has dynamic, contextually appropriate controls for every shape selected. Select an imported Jira issue and look at the Tool view of the SmartPanel. You'll see buttons to Insert Issues (to insert additional issues from Jira), Create New Jira Issue, and Update Jira Issue.
To update a selected issue, click on Update Jira Issue.
You can edit all the standard fields in the Jira issue like the issue type, summary, sprint, priority, assignee, and click OK to push your update to your Jira instance.
Create New Jira Issues to Push to Jira from the SmartPanel
You can collaborate with your team in SmartDraw and if you have a new idea that comes up in a brainstorming session, you can easily add that as a new Jira issue and push that issue back to your Jira instance.
At the moment, to create a new Jira issue to push to Jira, you have to have added one from Jira to the diagram first.
To add a new Jira issue from SmartDraw to Jira, click Create New Jira Issue in the SmartPanel.
You'll be presented with all the standard Jira fields you need to create a new issue. Clicking Ok will not just add a shape for the new Jira issue to your visual, but it will also push that issue into your connected Jira instance.
