SmartDraw can generate a PI board using your Jira data to show the relationship between planned work and fixed or actual work as teams progress through their sprints. SmartDraw's PI board follows a standard program increment board format and will scale across multiple teams and projects.
Select the PI Board template under the JIRA subcategory under Agile Workflow.
The SmartPanel has all the tools you need to connect to your Jira instance, specify the issue you want to visualize and add any symbols to your diagram manually.
To build your visual, click the Build PI Board button.
You'll be prompted to login to your Jira instance using your Atlassian account.
Make sure you authorize SmartDraw to be able to view your projects and epics.
Once logged in, you'll see a dialog where you can specify projects and sprints. SmartDraw will read your Jira data and present you with the projects you can select from.
Click the checkbox next to the projects you want to include.
Next, you'll need to add up to 5 Sprints from the projects selected. Once you select a project, SmartDraw will auto-populate a drop-down of sprint names for you to choose from.
Once you selected your project, SmartDraw will also auto-detect the issue types used in that project and present you with those options to select from. Choose what types of issues you want to include in your visual.
The last bit of data SmartDraw needs to generate the PI board is information about how your team information is stored in Jira. By default, SmartDraw assumes Components are used to represent teams. You can also choose Project, Team, or a custom field unique to your instance.
Once the PI board is generated, you'll see a board organized by teams and springs. Teams are on the left as rows and springs are columns to the right. Each item corresponds to a team and a sprint and you'll notice the color of these dots in each issue represents their status: to do is blue, in progress is yellow, and done is green. Dependency lines between issues will show in red.
Each issue has a hyperlink which lets you drill down to the issue in Jira. Just click on the issue key to see the issue in your Jira instance.
